"You will always find truth and comfort in music.  It can heal your pain, sympathize with your sorrows, and inspire your dreams.  It really doesn't matter if you are an artist or fan, you still feel it"  - Aretha Franklin

Music Moves Me - Manifesto

Music Moves Me
is about the power of music to heal and inspire.

It’s that deep connection with an artist
who says it perfectly, at the exact moment I need them to.
I can’t imagine life without it...

It is about embracing a culture...
a universal language where boundaries are erased,
no one is excluded and prejudices don’t exist.

It’s a spirit of energy I can’t describe,
but I can feel every note and every word
as it takes over my entire being...

Much of what I know about life, I’ve experienced through music.
Looking back, it has always been my saving grace.
It has taught me to cherish and celebrate my life,
to surrender my inhibitions,
to share the things that bring me joy,
and to love the people around me.

Music is the soundtrack of my life,
that unites my memories and experiences.

Years from now
I’ll remember every word to all of my favorite songs
I will remember where I was,
who I was with and what we were doing...

Music is my mantra.
It might be a much needed attitude adjustment,
a simple way to start the day off right,
or a total transformation that will change my life forever.
It has influenced who I am
and what I contribute to the world around me.

Whether it helped you through yesterday,
saved you today or gave you hope for tomorrow,
music has moved you at some point in your life...

It’s the profound message of a song that connects us
emotionally, spiritually, and physically…
And, my hope is that one day,
the right song will bring world peace.

Music is very personal to me.
No one can tell me what to like, I get to decide that for myself.
Music is whatever I want or need it to be
 to get me through it...

Music Moves Me...
it speaks to me, for me, and about me.

A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues - The Beatles
Written by Terry Thompson
Well, if your hands start a-clappin'
And your fingers start a-poppin'
And your feet start a-movin' around
And if you start to swing and sway
When the band starts to play
A real cool way out sound
And if you get to can't help it and you can't sit down
You feel like you gotta move around

You get a shot of rhythm and blues.
With just a little rock and roll on the side
Just for good measure.
Get a pair of dancin' shoes
Well, with your lover by your side
Don't you know you're gonna have a rockin' time, c'mon!
Don't you worry 'bout a thing
If you start to dance and sing
And chills come up on you
And if the rhythm finally gets you and the beat gets you too
Well, here's something for you to do

Get a shot of rhythm and blues
With just a little rock and roll on the side
Just for good measure
Get a pair of dancin' shoes
Well, with your lover by your side
Don't you know you're gonna have a rockin' time, c'mon!
Don't you worry 'bout a thing
If you start to dance and sing
And chills come up on you..."

The Beatles recorded "A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues" three times for
the BBC in 1963, with John Lennon on lead vocals each time.

"I knew that God had given me a gift.  I didn't know quite what I wanted to do with it.  I didn't know that I wanted to sing all over the world and sing on stages everywhere across the world.  I basically just wanted to be a background singer.  I wanted to sing with my mother, that was safe for me.  You know I was very shy, and very to myself.  In high school, none of the other kids even knew I could really sing.It wasn't like I really wanted to be a star, I just wanted to sing.  You know, I wanted to do what was in my soul - what was in my heart.  This other madness, they say that comes with the territory but you know...it's a hell of a territory."
- Whitney Houston

"As a child I always wanted to be a singer. The music my mother played in the house moved me - Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Mahalia Jackson. It was truly spiritual. It made you understand what God was. We are all spirits. We get depressed. But music makes you want to live. I know my music has saved my life."
- Mary J. Blige

“They (the fans) don’t even know how much a part of my life they were. They think I was a part of theirs? But they’ll never know how 50-50 it was. They need to know that without them I was not who I am. That needs to be said. They literally made me happen.”
